how many quarts i'm sure 4 at least but i'm not sure how much more than that? i've started changing my own oil and i've just done it mayb 5 times and i put a little more than 4 quarts, and read the dip stick to see if its near the max range as the stick has min I I I I max cause i sure don't want low oil but i'm sure too much can blow valves or something. aslo i use mobil 1 fully synthetic 15,000 mile oil so that i don't have to change it so often, and i change my air filter about every 3,000-5,000 miles. any advice or proven sources would be great. i don't have an owners manual. thanks.How much oil should i put in my 2004 Cheverolet Malibu Classic?You are doing it right. Check your dipstick to see how full - you don't want to overfill, and it is okay for it not to be all the way to max. You can always add some after driving a little then checking it again.
Also, unless you live or drive in extremely dirty conditions, such as a dusty area, you don't need to change your air filter near as often as you are doing. You can tell by looking at it if it is real dirty and needs changing.
Check your battery water levels during the summer, as well as your coolant levels. Check your transmission fluid levels occasionally also.
