How long will my goldfish last without an air filter?

my fish almost looks like a koi but it's smaller and fatter and it has a long tail with two fins and a fin on it's back. He's currently in a bowl with my goldfish and the goldfish is doing fine but my other fish that looks like a koi doesn't seem like it's doing to well so when i searced it said that when fish go to the top of the water blubing it means taht they need more oxygen. I think im getting a tank this weekend (not sure) but i just want to know how long he'll last. I change the water everyday and feed them twice a day. The water stays a medium low temp.
