Why change an air filter?

How often do you need to change the filter, and what does changing it really do?Why change an air filter?Good question! It's the same with any air filter. If the air flow through the filter decreases below the minimum requirement for air flow, you need to replace the filter. Some GM vehicles actually had an indicator to show you when you needed to replace the filter. If your going to keep your vehicle for 10 years or more, the smartest solution is to buy a K%26amp;N or Fram washable air filter and simply wash it every 20,000 miles or so. Otherwise, replace your paper element filter at 20,000 miles and be done with it under normal driving conditions. Why change an air filter? For a car: it increases gas millage and less crap comes in through your vents. I think they can be changed every year..It will tell you on a new box.Why change an air filter?I think it depends on your vehicle how often, but maybe you get better gas mileage. Why change an air filter? It keeps the dirt you see all over the filter... from getting inside your engine... you should replace the air filter... oh... about every third oil change, or once a year along with your fuel filter.

Changing it will help the car burn cleaner... you will burn less fuel... and assists the emissions controls to operate correctly.

- Good Luck! Why change an air filter? You are supose to change every 12-15000 miles. It filters out harmfuldirt from ruining your motor. If you dont change it it will decrease your gas mileage by not allowing enough air to enter the motor Which will choke the motor , decrease performance, and use more fuel. Hope this helps. Why change an air filter?Well for any machine or car ...It hepls the car or machine to breath properly..which all around hepls. When an air filter gets clogged or dirty..it makes the car or machine work harder takes alot of energy to push trough a dirty filter...thats why we change them.....besides clean is better than dirty all the way around. Why change an air filter?A car needs 3 things in order to run. Air, fuel ,and spark. Eliminate any of these and the car will not run. The air coming into the engine is reduced by a dirty filter . If it were totally clogged up the car would not run at all. Partly clogged up by dirt and it will run poorly and use more gas. I change mine every 2 years and find thats sufficient. It is an easy do it yourself job if so inclined and the filter alone is generaly around $10 .Why change an air filter?air filters filter air. not rocket scince, but if it is full of dirt, which it will be if you don't wash it or replace it, you get less air in with the petrol so performance is down and fuel usage is up.

These things are cheap so if in doubt change it. Check that it is not a washable one, some are. Wash in soapy water, not in the washing machine shake all of the water out leave to dry then put it back. BingoWhy change an air filter?I have K%26amp;N filters in all my vehicles... even my lawn mower. They are washable, reusable and highly efficiant. And they avoid the constant waste filling up the landfills. I think they are high performance as well. You can wash them with some mild soap and rinse them off, let em dry in the sun and pop em right back in.

I usually service them once a year on my cars and my Harley.

And 2-4 times a season on my lawnmower because of the extra dusty conditions that occur during the dryer part of the mowing season..

Cleaning and oiling kits are available just for K%26amp;N filters but oil is really only necessary in dusty conditions. Why change an air filter? An air filter is a device which removes solid particulates such as dust, pollen, mold, and bacteria from air. Air filters are used in application where air quality is important, notably in building ventilation systems and in engines, such as internal combustion engines, gas compressors, diving air compressors, gas turbines and others.

Replacing it necessary for the engine to run. If the filter is clogged, the engine will starve without air.Why change an air filter?if you dont change it, then your engine cant breathe. it will use more gas and if it gets too dirty, it will stall the car and also suck dirt into your injectors. you can have a pretty good idea if it needs changing, just by looking at it, if it looks dirty, change it, if it looks pretty clean, you can go a little bit longer before it need changing. Why change an air filter?lets the engine breathe and you will get better gas mileage with a new filter, you should change it once a year at least. Why change an air filter?cuz filters get dirty and blocked off and when that happens they cant filter any thing any more so u need to get a new cleen one
