How to change air filter in a 2006 mercedes cls 500?

It's pretty easy. On top of the engine you have the large, black, plastic cover. Remove the 2 air hoses and then pull up on the entire cover. They're held in by snaps so there may be little resistance but don't worry, you won't break it.

With the cover removed, flip over that housing and the pair of filters are accessed on the underside. Just unscrew the covers on either end and and change the filters.

Note: when putting the cover back in place, just align the cover with the snaps and push down. However, make sure you don't pinch and distort the seal between the air filter housing and the MAF sensor. If you do, that can cause the Check Engine Light to come on later on due to unfiltered air entering the very sensitive sensor.
