How to actually do it on this car, not just general information.How to change an air filter in a 2002 Honda Civic?If you're talking about the filter for the intake, it's just a few screws screwing it on right above the engine cover. It's a little black box with horizontal grooves going across it. You can remove it with a philips or i think a 8mm hex screw. The cover should lift right up with little effort... if it doesn't, don't force it and check that you've removed all the screws.
take out the old filter and drop a new one in and retighten the cover.
